SLUGS LOSE GAME IN 2ND HALF 84-75

Claremont, Calif – The UC Santa Cruz Slugs were defeated by the Pomona-Pitzer Saghens  84-75.

The game was close in the first half as the Slugs were down by one 38-37 at half time. To start the second half, Pomona-Pitzer came out with a 24-6 run. The Slugs responded with a torrid run to close the game, but came up short in the end.

UC Santa Cruz was led by Senior Spencer Wells, who had 20 points on 7-8 shooting and Matthew Ponce who lead the team with 9 assists. The Slugs shot a higher percentage than their opponents, but were unable to overcome the Pomona-Pitzer attack on the offensive glass. The Sagehens grabbed 18 in the game. 

The Slugs face Claremont-Mudd Scripps on the second day of the David Wells Classic on Saturday November 30, 2013.
