SLUGS LOSE HOME OPENER TO KINGSMEN

In their home opener, at Kaiser Permanente Arena, the UCSC Men’s Basketball Team lose to the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen 66-55 in the Hotel Paradox Opening weekend. Lead by team captain James Townsend, and point guard Matthew Ponce, the Banana Slugs tied the game in the 2nd half before the Kingsmen went on a 13-2 run. 

James Townsend lead the Slugs with 14 points and also had 4 assists. Mathew Ponce had 11 points, and Ilan Zur had 8 points. The Kingsmen were lead by Arik Smith with 14 points, and a double double from Guy Lynott.

The Slugs head back into Kaiser Permanente Arena tomorrow, to play Pacific Union in another triple header with the Women’s team, and the D-League Santa Cruz Warriors.
